"The world’s wisdom distilled into ten 2-letter words! Have I got your attention??
'IF IT IS TO BE
IT IS UP TO ME'"
Hiran was born in the foothills of Sri Lanka and grew up during a challenging period in the nation's history. This turbulent time instilled in him resilience, tenacity, and kindness.
After leaving Sri Lanka, he pursued a well-trodden path, graduating from the University of Oxford (MEng) and later from Harvard Business School (MBA). He spent the first ten years of his career alternating between investment banking at Goldman Sachs (Europe) and management consulting at McKinsey & Company (Middle East/North Africa).
In 2011, following the resolution of the conflict in Sri Lanka, Hiran returned to pursue an entrepreneurial path. He embarked on his own startup, focusing on developing capital markets and attracting foreign investment to the island. Transitioning from a lucrative career to entrepreneurship taught him the importance of taking risks, assembling the right team, and leading with passion.
Hiran has been involved in the MVP journey since its inception as a Venture Partner and Investment Committee Member. Since 2013, he has worked closely with Mayank (the Founding Partner of MVP) and has taken a leadership role in several consumer investments made by MVP.
During his leisure time, Hiran dedicates himself to raising his two young boys and enjoys traveling to unexplored destinations (having visited over 60 countries to date).
